Super slow download speeds when accessing my services through Nginx

Background:

In order to access my services (Nextcloud, Jellyfin, etc..) on my
server at home from the wider internet, I've rented a VPS, and put
Nginx on it, which points traffic to my server through Tailscale. I
then have a domain/subdomains pointed to the VPS. The only other thing
running on the VPS besides Nginx is crowdsec.

When I access my services through Tailscale, I get decent download
speeds (20-30 MB/sec). However, when I try to access it through the
domain/VPS/nginx I get much slower speeds (500-1000 KB/sec). Upload
speed isn't affected. It isn't the VPS' fault, I've used their servers
for other projects with great success. I've tried various guides for
speeding up/optimizing Nginx, nothing seems to help.

Can anyone give me some pointers?
