Radarr configuration with multiple root folders reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chunkyfen · 2023-10-05 01:41 Hi everyone, I've been struggling for the past hours trying to figure out how to organize my media library. So, I'm sorry, this has probably been asked before but for the love of me I couldn't find the answer I'm looking for. So please, indulge me, thank you! Basis Drive1=movie1, download1 folders (full for now) Drive2=movie2, download2, tv folders (nearly empty) I have two 4TB drives, one of the drive has a movie folder and it's full. The second drive has a tv folder and a movie2 folder. So, I'm importing movies into the movie2 folder for now. In ubuntu, do I create two shares: one is movie1 and the other movie2? (and two download shares?) In Radarr, do I use both shares as root folders? As for qBittorrent, the download folder will be on drive2. Radarr will then manage to move the files between the download2 folder and movie2 folder? Another question, I'll end up deleting movies overtime on drive1, so should I configure a download folder on drive1 now? Also, is there a way for Radarr to ask me where I want the file downloaded? I imagine something like: I choose to download it on drive1, then Radarr uses download1 and vice-versa. (So I don't end up using lots of I/O moving files between drives). My theory is that I should do this: drive1 ├── torrents1 │ ├── movies1 │ └── tv1 └── media1 ├── movies1 └── tv1 drive2 ├── torrents2 │ ├── movies2 │ └── tv2 └── media2 ├── movies2 └── tv2 Then I mount drive1 as data1 and drive 2 as data2 in ubuntu. Both data a1 and 2 as root folder of Radarr? Would that work? To be fair, I tried and Radarr couldn't see inside the movie folders, maybe a permission issue? I'd really appreciate some help please, thank you! P.s. I'm not doing any kind of spanned/stripped volume to create one volume for now. I'll be getting two other 4tb drives someday and create some kind of redundancy. I'm using docker. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-10-05 02:49 /r/Radarr is a thing ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AntiAoA · 2023-10-05 04:59 Look into pooling your drives so you dont have multiple versions of a "tv", etc folder on separate disks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bklyngaucho · 2023-10-05 11:44 TrashGuides ---------------------------------------------------------------------- selfh-sted · 2023-10-05 12:31 I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but you should consider migrating from Ubuntu to something like Unraid, which will manage your drives as a pool for you and let you add/remove as needed without you having to worry about managing individual movie, TV, etc. folders on each drive. You would then be able to point Radarr to a single folder, and on the backend, Unraid would take care of making your multiple drives look like a single folder and automatically switch to another drive if one starts to fill up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chunkyfen · 2023-10-05 15:28 Hi, thank you for your answer, it's actually something I've been looking at but all the solutions indicate that the drives need to be formatted. Also, my drives are on a windows gaming pc and can't be moved elsewhere. So the solution needs to be in windows. I thought that if I manage to empty one drive, I could create a pool with it. Move the files back to the newly created pool and then add the second drive to the pool? I'm not sure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chunkyfen · 2023-10-05 15:30 Hi, I've read those guides but nothing indicates multiple root folders or a complicated root directory. Thank you tho ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chunkyfen · 2023-10-05 15:30 Hi, I'm gonna look into a way to pool my drives in windows. Thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chunkyfen · 2023-10-05 15:31 Hi, thank you for your comment, I agree I could have asked for help somewhere more appropriate. I'm sorry about that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- bklyngaucho · 2023-10-05 15:35 I think the point is, if you want the whole system to work well together, there’s a prescribed way to do it. Your setup is admittedly complicated. Maybe an opportunity to make it less complicated (and along the TrashGuides guidelines) rather than trying to get the system to work with the overly complicated setup. And I can sympathize: I’ve been there. But once I set things up according to best practices, it just works. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chunkyfen · 2023-10-05 19:18 Hey, I understand, I went the less complicated way: I just bought Drivepool until I get a dedicated NAS. I'll definitely follow the guides once I'm set with the pool. Thank you 😊
