Selfhosted torrents reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HolaComEstas01 · 2023-10-04 11:27 Good morning! So far I've been using kodi to watch movies, with multiple addons to watch movies in streaming. I have recently downloaded movie torrents on my pc in the quality and language I want. Is there any way to play these torrents, which are hosted on a nas, from an android tv? Would I need my nas to first download the torrents and stream them to the playback device or can I have the playback device itself download the torrents in streaming? Thank you all in advance! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-04 11:48 The standard media pirate setup is: * Download via Torrent, UseNet, whatever * All managed by Radarr and Sonarr (via Prowlarr) * Then using Plex/Emby/Jellyin to stream said content to any device I personally prefer UseNet > Torrent and Plex > anything else. With Radarr and Sonarr films and tv-shows are downloaded and organized automatically with no user interaction. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JeremyMcFake · 2023-10-04 13:12 Why did this get down voted? This is the common set up isn't it? I use qBittorrent with Sonarr and Plex, all in containers using my NAS as storage. UseNet isn't for me... I don't download enough for it to be beneficial, I only have a few TV shows for Sonarr on my schedule, and Movies I do manually because I hardly ever watch any. I would use Radarr if I was a movie buff though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NoNewsAreNew · 2023-10-04 14:16 I'm very familiar with Torrent, but have no idea about Usenet and how it works. Got a good guide you'd recomment for a total newbie? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-04 15:06 You sign up for an account, you use a downloader like SABnzbd (integrated with \*arr suite), you sign up for indexers like miatrix or nzbgeek, add them to Prowlarr and done. I can download at 450MB/s simply anything except some foreign language content that is a little harder to come by but miatrix has lots of foreign content. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-10-04 15:07 Ah this is normal. A few people on this sub hate me and downvote every post I make, regardless of what I write. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DudeWithaTwist · 2023-10-04 15:25 I'm not sure what NAS you're referring to, but if it's just a simple network drive, they often double as a media server. So the protocols to stream music/video already exist. You can probably find a Media Server app on your Android TV. But as others have said, Jellyfin/Plex are softwares that also provide streaming capability. You can install that on your NAS and TV. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hawtre · 2023-10-04 17:02 Torrents split files into small blocks that are individually transferred, but some torrent clients have the option of downloading the blocks in order, which lets you stream some kinds of content (video in this case). If you use a client on your TV that supports block priority, then you'll be able to torrent/playback on your TV. Stremio should support this, but there are probably more options out there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hawtre · 2023-10-04 17:05 To be fair, you didn't really answer the question they were asking ---------------------------------------------------------------------- evoseedbox · 2023-10-05 00:40 yeah you can use something like plex etc.
