Anyone using a Fuji SnapScan w/ Paperless ngx in Linux? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SillyLilBear · 2023-10-04 06:16 If so, what software do you use for scanning to paperless? Everything I have seen is not remotely good as Scan Manager (Windows Only). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- withere · 2023-10-04 09:26 I'm using only Hardware for scanning (Kyocera ecosys m5526cdw). I think the function is called "Scan to folder" via an SMB share, which is accessible from Paperless NGX. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ArfbarkyPrime · 2023-10-04 14:49 I run Debian 12 with Gnome, and have a Fuji fi-7160. The basic simple-scan works perfectly. I don't know what features the windows program you mentioned has, but simple-scan does everything it needs to (double-sided scanning, etc.) You can adjust brightness and contrast and DPI. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SillyLilBear · 2023-10-04 15:16 The main "features" I mean, is * Auto crop * Duplex * Wrinkle/Crooked fix (I could scan anything and if it moves or wrinkles, SnapScan still looks absolutely perfect. * Multipages I installed xsane and paperwork, and tried them both, and they feel more like a flatbed scanner tool, where you scan one page and then manually crop, would be a nightmare for doing lots of stuff reguarlly. I'm looking for press a button, scan in docs and have them already cropped to whatever size they are, handle any minor miss feeds, and so on. Scan Manager is just so great for this. Ultimately I just want to scan into a folder without having to baby sit the scanning part. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ArfbarkyPrime · 2023-10-04 15:37 I guess it auto-crops, because I just put in a stack of paper in the Fuji, go to simple-scan and press Scan and the pages pop up in the window. They are straight, correct for the page size and the image looks good. So then I click the save button and give it a filename which then goes to the Paperless ingest folder. I've never had crooked pages etc. so I can't comment on that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SillyLilBear · 2023-10-04 17:21 I will give that a try, thanks. I tried a few scanning packages on Linux but nothing did this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ArfbarkyPrime · 2023-10-04 17:39 I never tried receipts sorry ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAFJB · 2023-10-05 15:55 Was too complicated. So we scan to a Windows box that periodically (scheduled Task/PowerShell) moves the files onto the Linux box. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SillyLilBear · 2023-10-05 16:34 My fall back is a Windows VM to a folder. But I did find something that's really close to what I am looking for, just not quite there.
