Looking for inventory and patch managment tool reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JANGxBANGER 路 2023-10-04 04:13 Looking for a tool or tools for keeping track of of my hardware and something that can keep track or even initiate patches. I know this is alot to ask for an opensource item but just wondering if something exists. If a tool like this does not exist I'm wondering what people suggest for tools like this. The ones I have played with in the past that accomplish both have a free tier and sadly I have to many hosts/nodes that I surpass free tiers. My original thinking was to have some inventory tool with an API that I can post data in from ansible about patch info into custom fields within the inventory system then in turn I would have an inventory system that can generate reports into a .csv and just use python to covert it into a yaml format for ansible inventory. But I want to get some feedback on others suggestions to see if there are any better solutions before I go out and scrape up something by hand. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vee_King 路 2023-10-04 05:24 I would also be very interested in such a thing, along the lines of Atera 馃槉 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- coff33ninja 路 2023-10-04 06:38 If I am not mistaken Tactical RMM has what you need and it is self hosted? I use it mostly for remote support and patch management, due to anydesk and TeamViewer annoyances. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- codeagency 路 2023-10-04 07:09 Either Ansible with a playbook is a convenient way. Or if you run kubernetes clusters you can look into kureD. You can check their source code and derive to what you need. https://kured.dev/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GeneMoody-Action1 路 2023-10-04 14:10 You can head over to r/msp, and they have a [link](https://docs.google .com/spreadsheets/d/1JdoFZup24bGueP1L7pFKToiGfOsDdkaJAJUGS9B3nLk/edit# gid=1326170256) to this spreadsheet in the lower right, it will give you a feature by feature comparison of almost every major product out there to do what you want, to make informed decisions on what you may wan to try. Most have trails or X free endpoints options Pretty much the best resource you would find you there as far as details, as cleanly laid out and concise. If you see something that you find interesting, each of those vendors have their own subs, as well as all being pretty regularly discussed in MSP and SysAdmin subs.
