Hello, I am looking for a slack-like site that allows the admin to
post files and information in an organized manner. I would like for
members to be able to access the site without creating an account,
simply by the shared link or inputting a private password. But with
the ability to create an account should they wish to comment or add to
the discussion.

Is this anywhere out there or something I should look to create on my
own for my purposes? Thank you!

Are you looking for a CMS? If so a WordPress instance might be
something worth exploring.
We'll need a little more information about about your use case to
really understand your needs.
You might want to check out [FileCloud](https://github.com/codelathe)
for the password protected link sharing.
