CRM of sorts reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FatalV0rt3x · 2023-09-30 16:16 Hi All, I'm hoping the community will be able to help me, and I'm in the right place. I'm looking for a CRM of sorts that can host contacts & companies. I need it to connect to my email's current email account and have the ability to automatically pull in mail from contacts that are in the system, as well as reply and send new ones. I know HubSpot offers a free service like this, and there are things like SuiteCRM & SugarCRM, but both self-hosted options don't seem to do what I need, I'm wondering if there are any other alternatives that are self-hosted that I can use to achieve this. Essentially, I need a way of logging all communications with certain people/companies in order to easily refer back to at a later date, and preferably have the email logging automated. I'm not really fussed about sales funnels and stuff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GolemancerVekk · 2023-09-30 18:33 Do you really need a CRM for this? Sounds like something that just email + contacts could do, which means basically any email service nowadays. Most of them do contacts as CardDAV which is a widespread standard supported pretty much eveywhere (unless it's one of the big providers, who do proprietary stuff just because). You'd have all email messages on hand and you could extract contacts from emails and organize them into groups and organizations (companies). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FatalV0rt3x · 2023-09-30 18:44 Unfortunately yes, as I need the ability for my partner to have access to Comms as well as see notes from calls and what not. CardDav is great for contact sharing, but I also need the ability to write up the ins/outs of a conversation and keep record of it for future reference. This is also the same for email Comms with those contacts. That way, we can navigate to a contact and see the Comms eachother has had via both email and phone, dates, comments, so on and so forth, and if needed can refer to them when either of us have to contact that person again. Dealing with multiple agencies and departments, becomes a pain to keep track of communications such as who we spoke to last about which subject mater. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DetectiveSecret6370 · 2023-09-30 23:20 What do you need that SuiteCRM doesn't offer? Both hosted and self- hosted options run the same software Did you try modifying it for your needs? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FatalV0rt3x · 2023-09-30 23:54 I'm trying to get SuiteCRM to automatically pull in emails and auto assign them to the contact. It doesn't look like the current version handles that, plus the activity stream is always empty. Emails I have to manually assign to a contact. I'm aware there are bugs with the current version of SuiteCRM surrounding emails, such as all my emails show no contact or subject. I'll take a look over the docs and see about going to an older version to see if that helps ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-10-01 06:26 Espo will do this. https://www.espocrm.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FatalV0rt3x · 2023-10-01 10:25 Thank you, this looks exactly what I'm after. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- olejazz · 2023-10-04 11:12 Please were you able to resolve this? I have not used SuiteCRM (and old SugarCRM) recently. But I thought you could in the past. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FatalV0rt3x · 2023-10-04 11:24 Do you mean the issue of the names and subjects not showing correctly, or emails not auto importing to customers? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- olejazz · 2023-10-04 12:14 Emails not auto importing, and hence names/subjects. I did not realise two issues. In past, I thought if email server was setup correctly on the system, you could download emails straight into the CRM using POP3 or IMAP. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FatalV0rt3x · 2023-10-05 07:21 I've fixed the issue with emails not showing the name and subject in the system, however not the auto imports. I used the following link and added the code to the inboundinbox.php https://community.suitecrm.com/t/subject-line-missing-from-inbound- emails/88059/12 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- olejazz · 2023-10-05 22:16 Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FatalV0rt3x · 2023-10-05 22:18 Moved over to this https://reddit.com/r/selfhosted/s/gm7iGBv9bY it works perfectly
