How can i make my games use more wifi? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Warm_Entrepreneur364 · 2023-09-30 15:05 With the exception of games, my 50mbts wifi works perfectly in most situations. The wifi is fully utilized when I download something via Steam or similar services, and the same is true when a website is loading in a browser. However, my average ping for online games and Discord is between 50 and 2000, making them unplayable. the same is true for Discord, as my Task Manager prevents me from viewing a Discord stream. I can see that the most that any games or Discord use is 0.3 mbts. Can this be fixed in any way? Maybe a program to make certain of my apps and games use more WiFi? I have been playing valorant and csgo and my ping is most of the times 50 but every 5-10 seconds it goes up to around 600 or more since it cant load the content with only 0.3mbts used. (i changed the priority already but it doesnt help) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- murlock42 · 2023-09-30 15:31 You should check https://aws.amazon.com/compare/the-difference- between-throughput-and-latency/ You have to check if your lantency is wifi related or not by using a network cable. Some IAD has also troubles when P2P is used ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LNDN91 · 2023-09-30 15:33 r/techsupport is where you need to be. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- compuwar · 2023-09-30 15:52 Latency isn’t the same thing as bandwidth. You’re confusing two seperate things. Ping times are about latency. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thekrautboy · 2023-09-30 16:19 Selfhosted? ... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- pigers1986 · 2023-09-30 16:20 wrong sub + seems you fail to see difference between latency and throughput. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GoobyFRS · 2023-09-30 16:54 You can't exactly make something "use more bandwidth". There has to be some volume of data that needs to be in-transit. If CSGO is working at 0.3/Mbps RX or TX then that is all that is occurring.
