Automated home k3s cluster reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LarryGFer · 2023-09-30 02:27 Hi everyone, For the last couple of months I've been working on a repo to create a k3s cluster and deploy the services I wanted to use on a day-to-day basis. I took it as a chance to learn Kubernetes and hone my terraform and ansible, I'm using ansible to install k3s and configure the nodes and a mix of Terraform and ArgoCD to deploy the apps. With that said, I think I got a little carried away... initially my goal was to just have the services up and running, but I broke it so many times that I decided to try to automate as much as I could, and then I tried to make it so simple all of my friends could use it at home, I might have ended with something (I think) easy to deploy but hard to maintain. Nevertheless, I am happy with what I have so far and I'm sharing it here hoping I can get some feedback, suggestions or just make someone's life easier. If you have the time or you're looking for a side project please give it a look and tell me what you think, I could use an extra pair of hands, especially with documentation since English is not my first language and I've been trying to make the docs as comprehensible as possible but I'm already familiar with it so I will always be extremely biased and will subconsciously avoid certain paths because I know they might fail. With that being said, try it if you're interested, I'll gladly address any issues and cover them in the docs, or if anyone has any interesting suggestion I'm willing to try them out, since I can't think of anyting else to add atm. Feel free to clone, fork or just submit a PR if you think something is missing or if you have a better way of doing things. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- desqviewX · 2023-09-30 14:23 Hi, while this is really awesome of you, there are literally *dozens* of projects that already deploy k3s and even k8s. If you want to improve your project, I'd look at some of those. There are 2 or 3 that I know of that use Ansible, so you might want to start there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LarryGFer · 2023-09-30 15:37 Thanks for the tip, could you point me to some of those to see if I can draw inspiration from there?
