Migrate from unRAID to Proxmox? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Area9004 · 2023-09-29 18:26 I currently have 3 home rack-mount servers, 2 of which run unRAID and the other Windows. My storage server (that I use for Plex, Jellyfin, Nextcloud) is pretty slow. It's an old Chenbro NR12000. My other servers are newer and quite a bit faster, but have very little storage. I have heard that Proxmox can cluster multiple servers together, and am curious if there would be any benefit to doing away with unRAID and moving to Proxmox. It sounds like it would be beneficial to cluster multiple servers together. What are thoughts on this? Good or bad idea? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BCIT_Richard · 2023-09-29 20:09 I run Unraid Virtualized in Proxmox, haven't had a single issue. I'd recommend it if you want to do it, otherwise may not be worth the effort, still pretty 'novice' myself so maybe some old dogs can provide better insight. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EddieKeytonJr · 2023-09-30 07:16 I’m new to the scene as well but I run truenas server and 3 proxmox servers and one vm I have is a truenas testing server on proxmox. It is an exact relica of my main truenas server. It has a little over 5TB of data and I haven’t had any issues at all. I’ve seen in multiple places people saying they virtualized truenas as well as unraid.
