After discord makes hosting impossible, i need a way to get my own link to images reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DrBitterBlossom · 2023-09-28 08:11 Hello, i've been using Discord to host images for over 4 years now, and it decided that while they -have- to still host images, they wont give you a link anymore and whatever link you get it will expire after 24 hours. This is a terrible thing for my job. Is there a way where i can host my own images? i dont need anything complex just... a way to get my own link from my own machine perhaps. Any help? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Slendy_Milky · 2023-09-28 09:00 Xbackbone ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DrBitterBlossom · 2023-09-28 09:18 Is it safe? i need to send these links to strangers online. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Slendy_Milky · 2023-09-28 09:30 It depend on you and your setup ---------------------------------------------------------------------- phein4242 · 2023-09-28 10:14 Store the image in base64 format in redis with a TTL and slap on some api to set the correct headers+mime types ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NikStalwart · 2023-09-28 11:02 Imgur + sharex. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DrBitterBlossom · 2023-09-28 12:39 Is imgur ethernal or do image get deleted from time to time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrtheboyfull · 2023-09-28 16:55 I played around with Zipline. Work's pretty well with ShareX and has GUI. You can just host it on a cheap cloud VPS. https://github.com/diced/zipline ---------------------------------------------------------------------- superglue_chute115 · 2023-09-28 17:32 Nextcloud does this, but it may be too much for your use case ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-09-29 02:12 You don't really give enough information about what you're trying to achieve to offer specific advice, but here are some thoughts. - You can use any webserver to serve images. Setup Caddy, copy images into the document root and then give people the URL to the image. - There are image servers like pict-rs and thumbor - I've been using PocketBase for serving images. It's basically a front end around sqlite but you can upload images and then get a url to share them (with automatic cropping and tokens for expiry if you want).
