new version of books - the minimal calibre web frontend reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ilikeorangutans · 2023-09-28 02:44 Hello friends of selfhosting. You might remember `books` [from a while ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/13l7thf/books_a_ligh tweight_calibre_library_web_app_with/). Well, I've pushed a new version with some small but nice updates: * browsing books can now be done either as cards or list view * filtering by title is now kept, so navigating to a book and returning to the list view means you still have the filter * better date formatting for release dates * smaller javascript bundle even though epubjs dwarfs it by a large margin * loading indicator instead of just blank screen Wanna give it a try? Great! Easiest way is to use one of the docker images I built (linux/arm/v7, linux/arm64, linux/amd64): docker pull ghcr.io/ilikeorangutans/books:latest docker run -p 9090:9090 -v /path/to/your/calibre/library:/library:ro ghcr.io/ilikeorangutans/books:latest Now open [localhost:9090](http://localhost:9090). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jogai-san · 2023-09-28 19:08 Git link: https://git.sr.ht/~ilikeorangutans/books ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jogai-san · 2023-09-29 06:25 Serie index is expected to be an int, but in calibre its not. For example in this series: https://www.goodreads.com/series/56399-the- expanse The page is throwing an error. Also, its very white. A dark mode would be nice for me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ilikeorangutans · 2023-09-29 16:54 > Serie index is expected to be an int, but in calibre its not. For example in this series: https://www.goodreads.com/series/56399-the- expanse Man, The Expanse is such a good read. Thoroughly enjoyed that, thanks for making me remember that. I've honestly never used the series index. Just poking around the metadata of some of the books. Is it the "Number" field next to "Series"? > The page is throwing an error. Can you be more specific? What's the error message? > Also, its very white. A dark mode would be nice for me. Agreed, I'll put one together. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ilikeorangutans · 2023-09-29 20:11 I've pushed a new image that has basic dark mode support, i.e. it determines if the system is using dark mode. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jogai-san · 2023-10-02 09:15 > I've honestly never used the series index. Just poking around the metadata of some of the books. Is it the "Number" field next to "Series"? Yes The error: bad body: Problem with the value at json.books[28]['series_index']: 12.5 Expecting an INT ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ilikeorangutans · 2023-10-02 14:04 Ooooh, gotcha. Thanks, I'll put up a fix for that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ilikeorangutans · 2023-10-03 01:57 New image pushed. It can now handle the float series indexes plus it now shows the series on the detail page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jogai-san · 2023-10-04 06:33 Yep, no other issues so far.
