Tunnelled services running slow reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Chrisspray · 2023-09-27 20:24 I've been hosting a couple external-facing docker services and I am exposing them via Cloudflare Zero Trust Tunnel and recently they have been running really slowly, not even loading sometimes. When I go to the services using the local 192.x.x.x IP they all run perfect and fast, but doing it via my.cloudflare.domain there is a huge delay and lag. I've been using a tunnel due to their simplicity as I am new to this but I am being put off by the connections. Before looking to alternatives, is there any advice to improve the speeds/consistency? Thanks in advance! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- danclaysp · 2023-09-28 10:32 The speed of your connection for tunnels depends on your internet connection speed. E.g if you’re accessing it in your house via the tunnel it goes round trip: you request > ISP connection > Cloudflare > ISP connection > your server responds > ISP connection > Cloudflare > ISP connection > you get it. Connecting locally will always be the fastest. Tunnels are best used for remote access.
