Setting up subdomains for various panels reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Holiday-Advance-7524 · 2023-09-27 19:54 Hi there. Im fairly new to self-hosting and would love some help setting up my various panels with a subdomain. How would I go about setting up a panel like Portainer or NginxProxyManager with a domain? Ideally I would like something like: [portainer.mydomain.com](https://portainer.mydomain.com) and nginx.mydomain.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FunkMunki · 2023-09-27 20:30 Is this for internal use or external? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Holiday-Advance-7524 · 2023-09-27 20:46 If by external you mean outside the local network then yes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FunkMunki · 2023-09-27 20:51 I use cloudflare tunnels for anything I'm exposing to the interwebs. It's free if you want to look into that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FroSSTII · 2023-09-27 20:55 I assume when you say panels you mean services? as you have mentioned portainer being one. Most conmanly it is done via a revers proxy like NginxProxyManager. The questionis asked very often here, I suggest doing a quick search on the sub. Here is one example of a guide posted here not long ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/146c2yd/guide_free_dynami c_dns_nginx_proxy_manager_lets/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Holiday-Advance-7524 · 2023-09-27 20:56 That what im currently trying to setup. I made a tunnel for portainer by doing the following: \- set a name for the tunnel \- ran the docker command from the "environment" section while setting up the tunnel \- set the hostname to [portainer.mydomain.com](https://portainer.mydomain.com) \- set the type to https \- set the URL to ipaddress:portainerport \- enabled no TLS verify The tunnel is marked green with the text "healthy" but when I try to connect I get this error in my browser: DNS\_PROBE\_FINISHED\_NXDOMAIN ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Holiday-Advance-7524 · 2023-09-27 20:59 will take a look. appreciate it :D ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FunkMunki · 2023-09-27 21:24 Try changing it from https to http and see what happens. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Holiday-Advance-7524 · 2023-09-27 21:32 now im just getting bad gateway errors regardless of HTTP or https
