NVR with Yolov8 model to detect motion in my cctv cameras reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Samoi00 · 2023-09-26 22:22 Hi! I am relatively new to selfhosting, and excuse my ignorance. I have the below setup: * 5 cameras Amcrest rtsp enabled, 4K (has substream of 720p I think) * Hardware: Lenovo M920S Tower: CPU(s) 12 x Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz & 64Gb RAM * Software: Proxmox VE 7.4-3 on running on debian dedicated on the HW above. (currently runs some apps in containers, very minimal automation work) * Ai Model: I have a computer vision model trained using ultralytics' yolov8 to detect really specific objects for my own use-case. * Storage: 8TB of HDD storage with another 8TB for data cloning. * Hardware Acceleration: 2x Coral TPU USBs Goal: Have all of the above achieve these two things: 1. Stop my current CCTV cloud subscription, and have it locally hosted & managed 2. Use my yolov8 trained model in the detection process of the footage and have them integrated into home assistant or similar while utilizing the hardware acceleration coral tpu usbs I have. I have looked into Frigate as an nvr, but it lacks support for custom models, especially yolov8. I have looked into Viseron, but I am not sure if it's the way to go ( it says it does support yolov8, but I am not sure I can use the coral TPU usb to accelerate the detections on my model. any guide, help, tip, or clarification on how to reach to my goals are highly appreciated! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nekimbej · 2023-09-27 03:29 There's YoloV5 in Shinobi NVR. You didn't mention that one, so this could be an option to explore. I think I saw in the docs about packaging custom models, but I'm not certain ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ultra_Maximus · 2023-12-11 07:54 There is a support of YoloV7 in Frigate, check the docs, but the model should be in TensorRT format. I must say it's not better compared to EdgeTPU smaller models like MobileNet or EfficientDet. I'm also looking forward to finding a way to use YoloV8x in Frigate. Hoping for better accuracy in detections.
