CMS for a non-techie musician? reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Positive-Protection1 · 2023-09-26 18:35 Hey folks, My partner is a musician. She writes and performs music, animated videos, and some visual art. She wants a single place to reference everything she does. I stood her up a Wordpress instance on the ol' server in the basement, but it's not scratching her itch. It's just too clunky and technical for her, and she's getting frustrated with it fast. She's not looking for a text-heavy "blog". \- She wants something with a more visual interface. (She has mentioned Squarespace, but that might just be good marketing at work.) \- Her content will mostly consist of links and audio/video files with some text. \- The ability to post an announcement with integrated email lists would be a nice bonus. \- Visual interest / appeal / creativity is extremely important. HTML5 FTW. \- I am quite technical (software engineer) but don't have mountains of free time. If it requires a little command line linux-fu once in a while, that's fine. I had a look at the great list at [https://github.com/Kickball/awesome- selfhosted](https://github.com/Kickball/awesome-selfhosted) and it's a bit overwhelming. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, has anyone thought about adding some reviews or feature comparisons to that awesome-selfhosted list? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FunkMunki · 2023-09-26 18:40 Take a look at [ghost.org](https://ghost.org). That's what I've been using for about a year now and I love it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HeroinPigeon · 2023-09-26 21:06 I use bludit but heavily customised it for a podcast you might want to give it a look it may or may not be what you are looking for CSS can customise what you want 99% of the time on it and that's about as technical as it gets. You can use raw html or the built in editor or even some custom editors that people made as plugins.
