Looking for an AP reddit / selfhosted ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NekoLuka · 2023-09-26 15:32 Hi, I currently have some old ubiqitui AP's, but I'm looking for something more friendly to configure. My specific demands for it are that it can be fully configured via SSH and doesn't need any extra external controller to be running and runs on 1Gb/s. Does anyone know of something like this? Thnx in advance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Plain-Tangerine3715 · 2023-09-26 16:18 I am also interested but I haven’t done much research. The first thing I was going to try when the time comes to replace the APs is to flash the unifi aps with Openwrt firmware and see how much I like that. If you haven’t considered that, take a look ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ElevenNotes · 2023-09-26 17:37 Build your own Wi-Fi AP with some hardware, some antennas and off you go. IMHO I would keep using Unifi but whatever floats your boat. pcengines has cheap boards to build your own access point with a few MIMO. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gabrielcossette · 2023-09-26 19:21 I love [Mikrotik](https://mikrotik.com). It depends on your definition of "more friendly to configure" though. But I believe it doesn't need an external controller for what you want. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- adamshand · 2023-09-26 19:47 Mikrotik isn't particularly friendly, but you can do everything via ssh, it's cheap, and can do just about anything. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NekoLuka · 2023-09-27 05:46 Unfortunately the hardware only supports 100mb/s on the ethernet connection, so it's not really an option for me
