Help understanding the "Found XX file(s) for your query: yyy. Diplaying: Z" message reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IAmAUser4Real · 2023-04-19 16:23 Hi all, I started using iRC few months ago, mostly to look for some files, expecially books, that otherwise I cannot find, or with other means are not accessible on my network. Most of the times I receive a message similar to "I have found 31 file(s) for your query: CCNA course. Displaying 3:" Is there a way to have the whole results shown? If that matter I use either HexChat or PChat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kilobyte22 · 2023-04-19 17:03 So you are using a chat program - to download things? Is this like a bot thing? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IAmAUser4Real · 2023-04-19 17:07 I don't really understand it myself. There are certain server, with specific channels that allow you to search in a vast amount of files, and to download (or upload if necessary) them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kilobyte22 · 2023-04-19 17:09 Ah I've never seen that. I've only ever used IRC to get tech support or talk to friends ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dukwon · 2023-04-19 17:43 Some people use IRC to chat, others use it to fileshare. There seems to be little overlap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_Client-to-Client ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CapnSupermarket · 2023-04-19 20:30 The fserv is sending truncated results so as not to trigger any flood protections that might be in place, so there isn't a way to get more results. Depending on which script and what the user has done, you may be able to download a full list of their files, or connect to their fserv and run find to get more results - although those may be limited as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gunfart · 2023-04-20 22:48 Vingo, this guy is right
