DCC send between 2 users reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jdennis187 · 2023-01-05 04:02 I want to send a large file to my buddy. DCC seems to work so well for grabbing from bots figured it should just work 1 to 1 right? Well, its just stuck on accepting send on both sides. Its not the DCC ignore list problem. Both users have set to auto accept. Any tips for allowing a dcc between two buds on same network? So frustrating that in 2022 you can't just quickly send someone a file without a cloud service. Heck, we're both on fiber and even FTP is god awful slow for some reason. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2023-01-05 04:18 you both need the right ports open on your router and those same dcc ports need to be set in each of your clients. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jdennis187 · 2023-01-05 04:28 Just basic tcpip port forwarding? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2023-01-05 04:30 Yup. They just use upnp somehow but this cant? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2023-01-05 04:36 Sometimes upnp magic aint gonna cut it. Sometimes you gotta slap your computer and say "right there stupid!" https://imgur.com/a/SsHyvmL ---------------------------------------------------------------------- spryfigure · 2023-01-05 16:07 When you receive from a bot, the bot tells your PC which port is open for the download (it's in the (X)DCC protocol). Did you use `DCC SEND filename ip port`? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- raiding_party · 2023-01-07 20:10 Xdcc bots work without a port forward on your side because only one side actually needs to have the port forwarded. Your client can connect to the bot or vice-versa.
