Message Forwarding Script??? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Xmrfarenheitx · 2022-12-22 01:07 I am looking for a script that can perform a very specific function. Maybe I don't know what I'm doing but I haven't found one that can do it yet. I need a script that can search for a keyword (i.e. "Cookies") and when that keyword is found in a channel (Channel A) I want the whole message reposted in a separate channel (Channel B). If anyone can help me with this I'd be endlessly appreciative. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tavaryn_t · 2022-12-22 01:16 What client? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DeltaFedUp · 2022-12-22 03:07 Same guy, different account. mIRC ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2022-12-22 03:32 on \*:TEXT:\*Cookies\*:#sourcechan: { if ($chan == #targetchan) { scon -a if ($network == targetnetwork) msg $1- } } This is only monitors live as the text rolls in it does not search the history of the channel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DeltaFedUp · 2022-12-22 03:37 Sick. So to ensure I’m reading this right, *Cookies* is my keyword, targetchan is just that my target channel, but I’m lost on the rest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2022-12-22 03:40 I use this to bounce news stories to my #news chan \#sourcechan is the chanel that is being monitored for the keyord which then triggers the script Targetnetwork is the shorthand name of the network so "efnet" or "rizon" would be an example and that is the network where you are sending the line. it is the network #targetchan is on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DeltaFedUp · 2022-12-22 06:58 So is network in this case synonymous with server? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2022-12-22 07:00 In Mirc when you connect to the network and join channels it is the network name that appears in the sidebar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DeltaFedUp · 2022-12-22 07:00 Gotcha!!! Thank you v much! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2022-12-22 07:03 No problem. I recall trying to solve your very problem once upon a time. Have fun! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2022-12-22 21:46 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Xmrfarenheitx · 2022-12-23 23:47 After some small difficulties. Hate to be a squeaky wheel but I have two more questions. A.) Does the version of the mIRC client make a difference for the script B.) Just wanted to reconfirm the difference between network and server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2022-12-25 04:19 That should work across all versions as far as I know. Network and server are often one and the same. As far as the script is concerned after you are connected the name will be displayed in the side bar. If you want me to help give me the details of your network and I will join your channel and test my script to be sure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DeltaFedUp · 2022-12-25 04:44 I would absolutely love to take you up on the offer but the network is hosted on a LAN server stack, and doesn’t touch the regular net, so that’s difficult to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DeltaFedUp · 2022-12-25 04:45 All that being said, it is the name up at the top above all the channels? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2022-12-25 04:54 https://imgur.com/a/UYGZ9kH ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DeltaFedUp · 2022-12-25 06:28 My savior! Thank you! I’m sorry for my ignorance, I’m still new to mIRC right now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- McGoodotnet · 2022-12-25 10:04 Once upon a time we were all ignorant. Happy to help.
