There is also for example irc.efnet.org irc.technet.chat irc.irc-nerds.net irc.dal.net irc.ircnet.com irc.freshchat.org Even idling on that networks helps keeping them around. Irc needs almost zero resources, so it should be simple to support as much servers as possible.
