I started using DALnet in 1998 and faded away around 2006.  I just
went there today. It's amazing that of all the IRC Networks I've been
on over the years DALnet still has the same people there that were
there when I was an Oper. With the exception of course being IceQueen
and Taz who ran away with each other behind IceQueen's husbands back.

Ahnberg, Acidli, xPsycho, MSofty (probably the most anti-social guy on
DALnet. Literally just idles in +s channels all day/night and never
talks to really anyone) are all still here. It's sad how it's shrunk
in size but interesting how all of these people are literally still
here. I don't really recognize a single name that seems unknown to me
on their staff page (there's like 1/2 I don't recognize but everyone
else is basically the same).

It's like a relic that is worshipped in the temple of IRC - a powerful
one that the entire region goes and visits.... religiously... The
nostalgia of irc is there for many people I think, I know it is for
me. It's also a bit sad that most of the servers are IX routed and
only a handful are open to the public.

Really started on Dalnet but then the scriptkiddies trashed it and I
left and went over to undernet.. mostly stayed in political channels.
Go over ohh maybe once every 5 or so years.

there's active channels on dalnet, and it's still the network I trust
the most re: staff

userbase is getting a bit old as you said.   time for some fresh blood
to join

This just came up in a conversation with a friend of mine, and color
me shocked when I find out DALnet is still online!
