Just a reminder that Rizon and Efnet are still rather alive but are in
need for new users :)

irc.rizon.net - port 6697

irc.efnet.org - port 6697

So, anyone willing to contribute to fun chats and is willing to give
slightly chaotic networks a chance, is welcome over there :)

Just grab your favorite IRC client like for example Hexchat, Mirc or
Adiirc, Icechat and Weechat and join again the superior simple side of
the web, you never are too old or too long gone to not come back again
:)

I used to love IRC in the nineties. What is the best client to use?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
SouthernIcelion · 2022-08-07 22:28

Hexchat, Mirc or Adiirc are quite nice. Other alternatives are Icechat
and Weechat

SouthernIcelion · 2022-08-07 22:33

also, recommended are:

[irc.technet.chat](https://irc.technet.chat) \- #computertech - port
6697

and

[irc.irc-nerds.net](https://irc.irc-nerds.net) \- #nerds - port 6697

Mirc is what I used back in the day.

Some days I REALLY miss getting on IRC in the real early 2000's. I
will have to check these out.... it's been too long...

Just discovered my terminal still had irssi installed.

Connecting to EFNET The MOTD was not what I expected, but oddly enough
I was not disappointed. What a weird thing to get nostalgia from

You really should, especially Rizon, Technet and IRC-Nerds, great
places!

do not rejoin efnet unless you want to meet a bunch of script kiddies
and get flooded

Can certainly vouch for Rizon...great BNC & Vhost service...have run
our channel there for a long time.

I would like to welcome all users to EFnet, home of the whopper. Feel
free to message me there if you need help navigating Internet Relay
Chat.
