How to hide my hardware info from channels? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hqjjciy6sJr · 2022-05-22 19:46 When I type SYSINFO in any channel it lists exact hardware detail of my OS, CPU, RAM, Graphics, etc ... Is there any way to stop this information from being sent to IRC networks? I use HexChat, but willing to change to have this privacy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HumansAreRobots · 2022-05-22 20:15 The /sysinfo command is a script specifically made to send your computer specs to the active window the command is typed in. It used to be a pretty common thing to see happen in some IRC channels. All you have to do is simply avoid typing the command and no one will be able to see your information. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PrincipallyMaoism · 2022-05-22 22:32 This is mostly, but not entirely true. Some CTCP commands expose elements of system information to the requestor. Furthermore, masking CTCP return values also does not hide the elements. If this person wants to totally hide their system information they will want to connect through a bouncer on a remote server and ensure that the bouncer is not forwarding that information.
