IRC Cloud won't connect reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy1124 · 2022-04-07 23:42 Anyone able to help? I can't get IRC cloud to connect. I've tried multiple data sources (Wi-Fi and Mobile data.) Logout/login, even uninstall and reinstall. All I get, no matter what is a loading bar, followed by "Reconnecting" with a timer that counts down to zero. Once the timer hits zero, it's back to connecting, but won't. Eventually it just quits and gives me an "offline" message. I can't access channels/servers or anything except for IRC cloud settings, send feedback, and logout. I'm on Android, if that helps ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robosham · 2022-04-08 00:40 Well it's not a internet issue if you can get into IRCcloud settings. Have you tried a different IRC server? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy1124 · 2022-04-08 00:41 Like, a different client? I'm not able to even get my server/channel list currently. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robosham · 2022-04-08 00:46 Okay so to clarify By IRCcloud do you mean http://irccloud.com/ ? If so that app is kinda completely online, like if you are able to access the IRCcloud settings. Then it's not a internet issue. Check the IRC configuration or check if the IRC server is up. Because IRCcloud connects to the IRC server via their connection and proxies it back to you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy1124 · 2022-04-08 00:52 How would I check if the server is up? I don't connect directly fron the site, I use the IRC cloud android app ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robosham · 2022-04-08 00:59 Well I just checked. If it was a internet issue your app would look like this https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/942623105350787135/9617902504 87799938/Screenshot_2022-04-07-17-50-07- 79_9218d26e1b45ab165b1437ed4b768d4b.jpg You could check by using the Mibbit web client https://client01.chat.mibbit.com/ click the server button and put the address in. If you want you can post (or PM) the address and I can look into it too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy1124 · 2022-04-08 01:02 That's what I see, minus the disconnected at the bottom of your pic. It does that, flips to reconnecting, tries again and either flips to reconnecting again or gives me an offline message. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robosham · 2022-04-08 01:07 Ah. Well you can contact the developers by email or you could ask them on their IRC server (use a different client, example Mibbit) irc.irccloud.com port 6667 #feedback ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy1124 · 2022-04-08 03:24 I think it stems from a password issue. I logged out by mistake yesterday and forgot my password, they sent me a temporary log in, but I never updated my password and then I remembered it. But because I can't get connected to correct it, I seem to be stuck in a loop. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robosham · 2022-04-08 03:25 Well you could try changing your password then? :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy1124 · 2022-04-08 04:50 If I try on the app, it tells me I can't because I'm not connected. If I try on the site, I'm told I'm not authorized and can't log out. I ended up submitting a ticket and making a new account for the time being. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Robosham · 2022-04-08 05:00 I suggest trying to do a password reset via the website But yeah Making another account is a good solution ---------------------------------------------------------------------- lazy-xo · 2022-05-20 02:58 I’d suggest dropping the use of it completely - at the very least read their policies and terms closely - had a suspicion they were a bit more eyes on than letting on - when I had a team subscription killed and banned from using again the few things I intentionally did could be the one and only reason. Based on my reading and understanding of their policies and terms these things wouldn’t have triggered anything to cause it (I expected it to be honest and no it wasn’t joining bad networks. As a side note I learned almost immediately an issue with Amazon just occurred effecting traffic and their service had issues at the same time.. take that however you want but it here’s nothing special or unique in what they provide in fact compare the amount of shit and size of it compared to a bouncer without any eyes on you… Out of all the clients and applications I’ve evaluated they rank lowest by far. You can daemon weechat and use their companion app - hell use aws - the app will connect through ssh including key auth - you have a much better experience whether you’re using the app or a private ircd accessible internally. Not sure what an aws environment would run but it’d remove any cost for their “team” shit for a better approach and as many people as you want - not like it’s resource heavy (well normally but again look at the size of their app)
