Im new to this btw. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- theLJR · 2022-02-21 11:15 Need a bot other op to give you op on connect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ByGollie · 2022-02-21 11:24 Networks usually have a services bots - they stay in permanently in a channel and hand out ops, half-ops, voices etc according to a pre-set rule. Colloquially they're known as a **Chanserv** bot (short for Channel Services) So when you rejoin - you get your ops back from the Chanserv bot. There's typically a number of prerequisites. Your channel needs to be registered with the network - that is usually a sequence of commands to the ChanServ bot. Once your channel is registered then the ChanServbot joins it and stays in it, even when you leave. The other pre-requisite is that your personal account is registered with the network. This means every time you join, your client is set up to send a login command with your username and password to a **different** services bot (NickServ) who authenticates you. Then once your authenticated account joins your channel, the ChanServ bot recognises it's you and gives you your OP status back. Now - depending on which IRC network you're using, the names of the bots and the precise commands used will vary. Check their webpage and/or type **/join #help** That will take you to the help channel, where a bot or a helper will be able to send you a guide or advise you on the exact commands needed to register your nick, and then your channel. A word of advice - IRC networks usually have a policy of removing unused channels after a period of weeks or months. So to stop your account being lost, log in periodically and/or use a FreeBNC service to appear to be permanently connected (even when your PC is offline) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JaFakeItTillYouJaMak · 2022-02-21 22:28 in short. you need a bot to be in the server which gives you op when you rejoin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zedSuperior · 2022-03-01 19:51 Stuff such as NickServ and ChanServ exist, I have a name registered with NickServ, then I claim my channel with ChanServ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zedSuperior · 2022-03-02 23:08 Not unless the server supports chanserv and nickserv.
