Is there anyway to use Hexchat or any other preferable irc client on android? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NARUTOX_23 · 2022-02-02 23:45 I have been using irc for lot of time and I am figuring out that if it will work on android. Is there any version of Hexchat that runs on android or any good client that will work? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trekkie1701c · 2022-02-03 00:11 I liked CoreIRC the most out of the native apps, though it's paid. Previously I used AndroIRC but it hasn't been updated in awhile and is unstable enough to be annoying, but it works. If you know your way around server hosting then my preferred client is TheLounge, but you need a webserver. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rubinlinux · 2022-02-03 03:02 Most native apps suck because maintaining a stable tcp socket on a mobile devuce isnt practical. So the best apps are ones that go through a protocol changing proxy. Irccloud, quasseldroid, matrix irc bridge and element, etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- failf0rward · 2022-02-03 14:06 IRCCloud is quite good ---------------------------------------------------------------------- theM0ntarCann0n · 2022-02-03 15:26 You can use irssi in termux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2022-02-03 15:28 If you use the Conversations XMPP client you can join IRC channels via the disroot.org IRC transport with the syntax `#channel%irc.domain.tld@irc.disroot.org`. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RadoslavL · 2022-02-03 20:50 It is clearly not enjoyable running a CLI irc client on Android. Just saying. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- theM0ntarCann0n · 2022-02-04 00:29 With normal keyboard it's hell. But with custom keyboard instead of standard it's quite OK.
