Ignoring All +B Users reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- W4t3rf1r3 · 2022-01-27 05:28 Today I noticed that my client (ChatZilla, yes it's still around and being maintained) has started to effectively ignore any user with mode set to +B. Any Messages from any user with +B set just don't show up. My ignore list is empty, so I'm not sure why it's doing this. Does anyone know how to fix it? Edit: thanks to u/progval for submitting a [bug report](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1752427) about this issue. It's definitely a bug specific to Chatzilla, so I'll be waiting for it to get patched. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gods_of_Sourdough · 2022-01-27 15:10 Which IRCd? What is the help description for usermode +B? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mazter00 · 2022-01-27 16:48 If you can listen to RAW and see if there's something there? (I'm thinking of mIRC, but ChatZilla I have no clue.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ProgVal · 2022-01-27 18:07 This is unlikely to be related to +B. My guess is that you are actually missing messages *from unidentified users* (as bots are often unidentified). If this is on LiberaChat, try `/mode -R` to unblock them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- W4t3rf1r3 · 2022-01-27 18:10 It's the [SkipIRC network](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/chat-guide), which runs on InspIRCd and Atheme. [InspIRCd's page on +B](https://docs.inspircd.org/3/modules/botmode/) I can'd find anything directly from Atheme right now about +B. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- W4t3rf1r3 · 2022-01-27 18:12 Definitely not the case, as the channels I use require all users to be identified. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gods_of_Sourdough · 2022-01-27 18:16 Are you able to view raw protocol messages, to make sure it's a problem on your end? Are you able to confirm that the messages are in fact being sent to begin with? Do you have any usermode set on yourself which prevents bots from messaging you directly? \+D prevents you from receiving private messages. Make sure it's not set on you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- W4t3rf1r3 · 2022-01-27 18:32 I'm entirely unfamiliar with doing that 😅 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ProgVal · 2022-01-27 18:56 Dumb question: how can I even get ChatZilla and run it these days? http://chatzilla.hacksrus.com/ says it is dead, and the download link is broken... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- W4t3rf1r3 · 2022-01-27 20:58 I've never tried viewing raw protocol messages before, but I do know that the messages are being sent in the channel because other users can see them. I'll check my usermode setting again, but I'm pretty sure I'm not on +D because I wasn't having issues with receiving private messages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- W4t3rf1r3 · 2022-01-27 20:59 It's included in SeaMonkey ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ProgVal · 2022-01-27 21:29 Alright, sorry for doubting you, it is indeed caused by +B. This is a bug in ChatZilla, I reported it to its developers here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1752427 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- W4t3rf1r3 · 2022-01-27 22:58 Thanks!
