Best client for scripting?

Hello, I have been fiddling with IRC for a bit, and want to try out
scripting it. One ideal feature would be to modify my outgoing
messages through code instead of what I am doing right now (a hexchat
script that adds a command that modifies my text then sends it out)

You can do that in hexchat, if a bit awkward, `hook_print('Key Press',
...)` and modify your message on enter.

You can also `hook_command('', ...)` and it runs when you send a
message, I forget if that can modify it though.

Weechat is great for that, too.

Depends what you want to do with scripting. MIRC is pretty easy and
can actually go far. Irssi supports perl which is a lot more useful
outside of the client utself.
