It says the problem right there in the error, you have to use the port
that has TLS encryption. If I were you though, don't use freenode, use
LiberaChat. Freenode was nice until it went under a new authority,
then staff from freenode left and made LiberaChat, which is many times
better imo lol.

Freenode is under new management and almost everyone has left for
other networks.  I'm a big fan of [rizon.net](https://rizon.net/)
because of the built-in features like auto-cloak, custom vhosts with
color, bot services, limit services, etc.  The staff on rizon.net
don't censor users, monitor channels, or curate content in any way.

I am using Irssi and it continues to automatically connect me to
Freenode any ideas how to change this to automatically connect me to
rizens network?

Sure, with irssi open:

/network add Rizon

/server add -auto -network Rizon irc.rizon.net

press enter, then:

/connect Rizon

For some reason none of the commands are working in irssi

I enter a simple command and nothing happens

I have one message 'this nick is awaiting an email verification code.

I entery /msg NickServ register a password valid@email.address

but I get nothing.
