Who/What is 0day?

What are you talking about?

`0day` is how the section of the warez scene which releases programs
is known as. But OP is wrong in thinking they "started using ftp
instead (of irc)". The scene is FTP based since commercial Internet
became a reality, and groups use IRC for all their communication
needs, but never for "file transfers".
