Hi all,

Hoping I may get some help.

I used to use MIRC back in the day, years and years ago to download
software and a variety of different media to consume.

I'm out the loop 15 years later. Can anyone give me some advice on
whether mirc is still used for that kind of stuff?

If so, what is the best, user friendly way to get back up and running
again here?

Ps its worth saying I have a mac these days.

yeah it still works, well at least I s till use it, fastest download
out there. My favourite tracker [ixirc.com](https://ixirc.com) is not
working anymore for a couple of months now - just google alternative
XDCC search engines, and you're back in no time. Biggest networks for
movies and stuff used to be Abjects with their Moviegods channel, all
have bots for search directly within the channel... try, experiment.

I use mirc.  But it might also be because of the scripts to help me
when dealing with a tracker.

I don't use mIRC but as far as I know it still goes strong.

I use weechat on linux or hexchat when in windows. According to
google, hexchat is working on macs too but I have no experience my
self (I recommend it though).

For DCC stuff I started interested lately my self. So far I visit
rizon or abandoned-irc networks for that.

Please don't use XChat. Seriously. Don't.

1, It has not been updated in 11 years.

2, It has bugs and security issues.

I would suggest using HexChat instead. Its a fork of XChat with many
bug fixes and new features. Plus its 100% free on Windows unlike
XChat.
