cant disable identd requirement

Im setting up my first raspberry pi irc server, and all has gone well
so far up to connecting to the thing. Im able to establish a
connection, but the server will go into a loop of booting me out for
not having Identd on my computer. I saw an older reddit post with
instructions on fixing the issue so I went along with that, going into
the config file and deleting the identd line under the auth block.
However that didn't fix the issue at all, even after several restarts.
Am i missing something here? Any help is appreciated, im still quite
new to this.

You should include information like what server you are using...

Just a thought: try going back into the config file, add the line
back, and if it’s a Boolean, change true to false, etc. sometimes the
server looks for a line in the config file, if it doesn’t find it, the
server just puts the default value. Also reread and comments in the
config file and online documentation about the server.
