Looking for some help with my IRC server

If the intent of this subreddit isn't to make questions and stuff, I'm
sorry.

Long story short, me and 4 friends have created a website, about a
year ago. In it, we have about 20-30 people playing a text-based game
in an IRC chat, provided by KiwiIRC.

It has come to our attention that one of the "squads" started using a
third-party script program, that sends messages automatically with
keyboard shortcuts, giving them a significant (some would say
"unfair") advantage over others. However, none of us know of a way to
identify such tool.

So, the question is: is there a way for us, as operators of the
server, to identify and differentiate scripted messages? We have a bot
that helps us during the games as well, so could that be helpful at
all?

Not really. If they are using a program like mIRC or some other irc
script system. The scripts are all run client side and just sending
the text quickly and automatically.

I have not found a great way to prevent users from using client side
scripting mechanisms.

We thought about suspending the players, but for that we would need
evidence that they are, in fact, using scripted messages. Otherwise,
we're just acting based on hearsay

You're not running a court of law damn man, just ban those fuckers if
they're being problematic you don't need any evidence at all. If they
whine, tough shit.
