New to ZNC, need help setting it up.

Hello, I have recently setup ZNC on my server but I am not able to
connect to it.

I am using WeeChat as my client. I checked the wiki.znc.in.Weechat but
still I am having issues.

    irc: I get address not found
    irc: error: Name or service not known

So, let's take a hypothetical situation where I have set up ZNC on a
server and it has a address of `10.147.17.299:6501`

username is `admin` and password is `12345` to login to ZNC. I have
set up LiberaChat on it and server address is
[irc.libera.chat](https://irc.libera.chat) \+6697 the name is ofcourse
`LiberaChat`

Since this is on a secure network I dont need ssl to connect to my
ZNC.

Anyway, is the following command the right command to input in Weechat
to connect to my server? Because if it is then I don't know what the
hell I am doing wrong since I am getting the above error.

`/server add myZNC 10.147.17.299:6501 -username=admin/LiberaChat
-password=12345 -autoconnect`

`/connect myZNC`

Instead of using ”-username=” you should be passing
”-password=admin/LiberaChat:12345"

That doesn't work either. :/

I just realize, If my client can't find the network itself then how
can it login in the first place?

I tried using other HexChat it works on it but not on weechat idky

If it works on hexchat, double check your syntax for when you add the
znc IP/port on the other client, I suspect that is the problem.

I believe weechat uses server/port instead of server:port when you're
doing the 'server add' command.

Putting the network into your username field should work just a well.

With weechat you need to separate host and port with a slash, not a
colon - like this: `10.147.17.299/6501`
Source: [WeeChat Getting Started Guide](https://weechat.org/files/doc/
devel/weechat_quickstart.en.html#add_irc_server). I believe this has
been done to allow easier support for IPv6 addresses, but that's just
a guess.
Also note that that IPv4 address is not valid :P
