Hexchat + znc setup. How do I make joining both oftc and Libera easier at the same time? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- immeralleine · 2021-05-27 19:07 My znc setup has Libera as the default server it connects to when hexchat is launched. I also have oftc included and currently I'm forced to open a new tab(Ctrl+T), open the network list(Ctrl+S), connect on the znc connection again which opens like the first time and then finally I run `/znc jumpnetwork oftc` to switch to oftc on the 2nd tab. Is it possible to make this easier, something like an alias command or a hexchat plugin that automates this for people experienced with irc client scripting ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KindOne · 2021-05-27 21:04 You can setup HexChat to connect to multiple networks when you start it. https://wiki.znc.in/HexChat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- binaryplease · 2021-05-27 21:53 I know it might not be the solution you are looking for, but have a look at [The Lounge](https://thelounge.chat/). If you're hosting znc anyway *and* using a GUI client, why not just deploy a software that does the job of both and handles mutliple networks flawlessly? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aotsuyu · 2021-05-27 23:56 You should be able to connect directly to a specified ZNC network by providing the network name after your username, with a slash. [This](https://ptpimg.me/d4oagm.png) works for me. Just check the 'Connect to this network automatically' box, as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-05-28 02:27 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eAnonDog · 2021-05-28 04:16 Another option like this would be quassel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- P4k3 · 2021-05-28 12:29 The lounge is awesome! Used IRCCloud before but then I found the lounge and it does the same thing for free. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FFClass · 2021-05-28 12:56 Because people might be averse to running node.js and similar bloat just to run a fucking IRC session. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gertrudedude69 · 2021-05-28 15:27 do you host on your home pc or what? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- P4k3 · 2021-05-28 17:16 There is an add on for home assistant. So buy an raspberry pi and you are good. I'm running it on hyperv though ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gertrudedude69 · 2021-05-28 17:28 meh but then it's my home network that's exposed to irc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- binaryplease · 2021-05-29 12:33 You run it like you would run probably any bouncer, on any kind of always-on machine. Hardware requirements are pretty low, any low- powered server/raspi/nas will do ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gertrudedude69 · 2021-05-29 12:34 fuck that id get a $5/mo vps to host it the whole point for me is to not have my home network exposed to irc. there are truly free bouncer services out there tho.
