how can I set up my own private hexchat network? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Quietcat55 · 2021-05-04 03:18 I want to have my own private irc network using hexchat but all the guides I find are either outdated or not what I'm looking for. can anyone point me towards or provide a guide or tutorial on how to get started hosting a private and secure irc network using hexchat? (bonus points if its through tor) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AltReality · 2021-05-04 04:01 Hexchat is just a client...it is used to access an IRCd (IRC daemon(another name for server))... So you want to download and install an IRCd... The most popular are [UnrealIRCd](https://www.unrealircd.org/) and [InspIRCd](https://www.inspircd.org/) and it looks like they will both run on Windows. (I assume you are using Windows) I'm not sure about how to host through tor..but those links should get you started. Good Luck! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Quietcat55 · 2021-05-04 14:04 it seems that inspIRCd is only available for debian based linux distributions, do you know if its possible to use it on Manjaro Linux? I also saw a guide that used [irc.anonops.com](https://irc.anonops.com) as the host address (basically owning their own server but not hosting it) is it possible to do this with a different host daemon? (anonops is outdated) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- htepO · 2021-05-04 14:27 Inspircd is available on AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/inspircd/ Guide to using AUR on Manjaro: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Arch_User_Repository ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-05-04 16:45 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-05-04 16:45 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-05-04 16:45 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IBNash · 2021-05-04 20:47 Choose an ircd from the [aur](https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/?O=0&K=ircd). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Quietcat55 · 2021-05-05 02:08 What would you recommend? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IBNash · 2021-05-05 04:07 [Oragono](https://github.com/oragono/oragono) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2021-05-13 15:49 [removed]
