Nickserv on private server

I've made a private server for me and my friends using inspircd on
linux, but I want nickserv and chanserv and don't know how to get
them. Can anyone give any advice?

Also, another slight problem is that I don't have op when I join with
the nick specified in the config file and also previously having op,
so I've had to have 2 accounts giving each other op when one
disconnects.

Most popular services are Anope and Atheme. You can pick one and try
it. Just download the source code and follow the directions on how to
compile/install/setup.

As far as your op issue, I'd try asking in the inspircd support
channel:

Do you mean Op or Oper status?

I think generally to obtain Oper status you have to login, I can't
recall if it is automatic or not.  It has been a while since I have
putzed around with irc daemons and I admit, I am totally unfamilar
with inspircd with Oper status.
