ZNC: "This module hit a timeout" reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ken852 · 2021-01-17 00:13 So I got this earlier today: <*route_replies> This module hit a timeout which is probably a connectivity issue. <*route_replies> However, if you can provide steps to reproduce this issue, please do report a bug. <*route_replies> To disable this message, do "/msg *route_replies silent yes" <*route_replies> Last request: PING LAG161406337 <*route_replies> Expected replies: <*route_replies> PONG (last) <*route_replies> 402 (last) <*route_replies> 409 (last) <*route_replies> This module hit a timeout which is probably a connectivity issue. <*route_replies> However, if you can provide steps to reproduce this issue, please do report a bug. <*route_replies> To disable this message, do "/msg *route_replies silent yes" <*route_replies> Last request: WHO #vscode %chtsunfra,152 <*route_replies> Expected replies: <*route_replies> 402 (last) <*route_replies> 352 <*route_replies> 315 (last) <*route_replies> 354 <*route_replies> 403 (last) <*route_replies> This module hit a timeout which is probably a connectivity issue. <*route_replies> However, if you can provide steps to reproduce this issue, please do report a bug. <*route_replies> To disable this message, do "/msg *route_replies silent yes" <*route_replies> Last request: PING LAG161436348 <*route_replies> Expected replies: <*route_replies> PONG (last) <*route_replies> 402 (last) <*route_replies> 409 (last) What is the meaning of this? What does "PING LAG161406337" mean? What does "WHO #vscode %chtsunfra,152" mean? These seem to be commands. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SadieKatze · 2021-01-17 06:38 Check that both your client (HexChat?) and ZNC are up to date? If it's not that then whatever server you're on is probably acting weird and you can ignore it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ken852 · 2021-01-17 10:33 Not that it has caused these messages before, but yeah, they are both most likely to be out of date. Now that I think of it... I don't have any good excuse for not updating them. Other than potential risk of breaking something?... so yeah, I'm reluctant to update. I mean I could do what it says and issue the command `/msg *route_replies silent yes` if I wanted to not see it. But I'm more interested in knowing what this is than in having it go away. I can tell that it's playing PING PONG. But what is the meaning of `LAG161406337` for example? Are those milliseconds?... that would be 2690 minutes or 44 hours. That's some lag... so it's probably not time but an ID. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SadieKatze · 2021-01-17 11:52 HexChat has built in lag detection. It uses pings to detect how much delay there is between you and the server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ken852 · 2021-01-17 15:32 OK. But I am not connecting to IRC network directly but via a bouncer. Maybe ZNC has the same feature? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SadieKatze · 2021-01-17 16:51 HexChat doesn't know what a bouncer is. It just treats it as any other server.
