Looking for advice to rejoining the IRC community.

I was on IRC back in 98-99 I think, have not been on since then. I
used a client called Excursion which seems to be out of commission
now, there were a bunch of top servers back then, I was on Dalnet I
think and a few others. What is the best way to get back on these
days? have the clients improved, Im 44 and looking to join a server
with some OGs or veterans in the IRC chat world,

Oh I use Linux so I just use like hexchat or weechat but I heard
quassel is good

I’d advise you to look into Discord as well. It seems to have much
more activity compared to IRC.

Hey man, the big networks still exist. Activity has fallen drastically
in recent years, but there's a few channels that are still active
24x7.

Try `#gnulag` on `irc.snoonet.org:6697` if you're a programmer or
sysadmin. SSL is mandatory.

Easiest way to join is to use the [Webchat](https://kiwiirc.com/nextcl
ient/irc.snoonet.org:+6697/?nick=pleb_?#gnulag). Hexchat is a great,
easy to use client if you're looking for something on Linux.

Multiplatform as in Windows 7, 8 and 10.  I dont call that very
multiplatform.

some of the old folks still live on irc lmfao, windows irc client
hexchat or adiirc... linux: weechat or irssi... i started on
msn/microsoft back in the late 90s... but yea come check out my
network [irc.irc-nerds.net](https://irc.irc-nerds.net) \#nerds catch
up with some old folks, learn a new trick or two lol
