IRCHighway - Anyone Here From 2003ish?

Way back in 2003 I joined a server (I think that is what it would
be...) called IRCHighway on mIRC. As silly as it sounds, I used the
client to get into a room where users shared seasons of the Idol TV
franchise (American Idol, Canadian Idol, etc). After about a year of
trying to get content and finding there were quicker ways, I moved on.

Sadly, since laptop hard drives were small back then, I didn't save
most of the content. I want to regain what I don't have. Torrent
sites no longer offer the episodes, you can't buy them, and Youtube
only has some content.

Does such a channel still exist on IRCHighway? Anyone here maybe from
that channel back then? I'm trying to leave no stone unturned.

I think it was #americanidol and #surivior-chat?

I know this doesn’t answer your question. I know such chats exists but
I only know of any for Ebooks and Anime.

For the shows you want they’re on public trackers but searching a ton
of public trackers can be a pain in the arse

Here’s what to do [install
Jackett](https://github.com/Jackett/Jackett/releases) and configure it
with as many decent public trackers in the list. Then the use search
function to find what you are looking for.

I've done a decent deep dive into the public trackers. Since most of
the content was broadcast or popular over ten years ago, the links
remain with zero activity. I was hoping there would be a few still
active in dedicated communities. I guess people don't care about
keeping the content alive unless it is about drawing viewers to a
Youtube channel.

I found one of the guys who started the Survivor channel. Maybe he
will have some answers. Until then, I'm trying to enter the channels
through something called Mibbitt. Everything I see shows me that the
channels are still active, but when I enter they are empty.

Can you or anyone else explain these stats then? The below is for the
American Idol channel specifically.

google "xdcc search", then use the search to find what you want, then
join the server and download

Survivor (2000) correct? I see it on several private trackers so I
assume it’s most likely on public ones as well.

No... That isn't the content I'm looking for. I just know that what
I am looking for used to be shared on that channel as well.

back in 2003, I was still on dalnet, until the huge DDoS attack that
basically killed it.

Does anyone know how to download a batch of files or a complete
directory instead of going file by file with 1F 2F 3F...100F ?

CreativeEmotion · 2020-11-22 01:51

Not sure that is possible. This is why IRC is a pain in the ass for
file sharing. And no one is around to respond to requests for content
that used to be available in channels.
