Small network - looking for people to give it a little workload test reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thrown6667 · 2020-08-26 02:08 Hey all - I don't know how active this sub is, and just discovered it today, SO, I thought I might ask here - I have a little server network setup, one east coast, one central, and one west coast. It has been 22 years since I set up an IRC server. Only because the last time I set one up and liniked to a network my colo at the time got DDoS'd off the face of the earth for 2 days. I'm thinking that the "competition" betwwen network isn't so rough, and I'm hoping thst no one wants to blow up some random guys server. Anyway, if you know of a way to get a decent number of folks to just get on, reg a nick, channel, etc so I can see how everything is working. The server info: irc.cell9.net - RR to all 3 others mars.cell9.net zeus.cell9.net hera.cell9.net ports 6667-6669 no ssl ports 6697-6699 ssl If anyone has any ideas on how to pull this off, let me know. I'm not looking to build some huge irc network (I don't think there are enough users anymore to need a huge network) but, it would be cool to see it work. And if there's interest, I'd be happy to keep it up, or work with other networks for an exrta link. ty ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-08-26 06:58 Hello, I can try your server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gatewayy · 2020-08-26 11:50 I connected, for some reason /list doesn’t return anything. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Roi-RoOm76 · 2020-08-26 12:00 the reason , i think .. isn't any channel active to show ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gatewayy · 2020-08-26 12:03 That would explain that then. :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- htepO · 2020-08-26 12:05 Same here - nothing on /list Lusers is >Current local users: 2 Max: 2 >Current global users: 10 Max: 10 Set up a lobby of some sort that new users can join. If you can't network (no pun intended), you will not grow your network. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Roi-RoOm76 · 2020-08-26 12:45 Good morning, I have connected to your network and I have registered, nicknames and channels, at the moment everything seems to be working correctly, it would have to do with a significant number of real users interacting for a while. This will take you some time to reach the goal of more than 200 users, which would be an intermediate number to measure the power of your network. thank you \^Roi\^ on your network and much more others *I have used the automatic google translator to translate the original text from Spanish to English. I am from Argentina* ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WorldGenesis · 2020-08-26 15:46 Especially with IRC protocols being extremely light on resources for just a few users :P ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thrown6667 · 2020-08-26 17:15 Agreed. This was more of a "hey, check this out .see if it works for you" with hope that other sets of eyes may spot something I missed. Which has happened, and I'm very appreciative. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Roi-RoOm76 · 2020-08-26 17:15 if you go to check now, you should find at least one channel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thrown6667 · 2020-08-26 17:18 Thanks all who got on there and poked around. I'm not exactly pushing for users at the moment. I'd like to finish the website before that happens. It's nothing special, but will.have network info, contacts, etc. Anyway, thanks again. It's very much appreciated! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-08-26 17:46 [deleted]
