IRC + SSL = TROUBLE!!! reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheRealScottK · 2020-08-09 12:30 Well, I've gone through enough of this mess, so I'm tossing this one up to the crew here to see if anyone has any ideas on this: I've installed OpenSSL bits from [https://slproweb.com/products/Win32 OpenSSL.html](https://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html) (64-bit) to my rebuilt Win10 system (Failed re-imaging to new SSD), and for the life of me I can \*NOT\* get SSL to work properly on IRC. 1) I've verified that the bits are installed and working via commands to the CLI and the proper responses are received. 2) I've verified that there are no known issues with my router (Comcast xFi) - however, I am oddly unable to do any kind of port forwarding for either ports +940 or +6697 for SSL into the network(s) I'm trying to connect to 3) This is not isolated to one system, but multiple systems here. The error thrown is this: (for example) \[05:24\] \* Connecting to [irc.spiderchat.org](https://irc.spiderchat.org) (+6697) \- \[05:24\] \* SSL error: ssl not available \- \[05:24\] \* Connect cancelled This has got me endlessly confused. I've tried multiple copies of mIRC that I'm positive had worked before, but now on three separate boxes I call "no joy". \*ANY\* kind of input or help that will resolve this will be rewarded by a UPS delivery of at least a dozen of Mrs. ScottK's Internet-famous Chocolate Chip Toll-House Cookies. I'm serious - I'm not beyond bribery here! As always, \--ScottK ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KindOne · 2020-08-09 13:02 mIRC Version? That's for if you want to run a server.
