ZNC: How to detach a channel on disconnect reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _raGa_ · 2020-07-04 19:03 Sometimes..my IRC client disconnects me from the bouncer due to network disruption. And, when the N/W comes back, I will log into the bouncer again via IRC client, then Join the channel-- Which was not detached when I lost the connection, So, is there anyway I could sort of instruct ZNC to detach me from the channel when I had an abrupt disconnect?? Looking for a way to avoid fresh-join... I saw couple of ZNC modules, but not sure whether they fit in my case.. Stickychan and simple_away (which doesn't log messages) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FranzGames · 2020-07-04 21:49 I do not know how to do that since I have never used a bouncer. But isn’t the point of a bouncer so that you don’t get dropped from a room if you disconnect? To me it sounds like you are using the bouncer as a proxy server. If that is the car (ie that you are using for obfuscation) I think using a proxy server or a vpn would be a better solution for you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- calzoneman · 2020-07-04 22:07 I'm a little bit confused what you are hoping to achieve. In ZNC terminology "detach" refers to [keeping a channel connected in the background while hiding it from your local client](https://wiki.znc.in/Detaching). It is not related to network disconnects between your local client and ZNC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- _raGa_ · 2020-07-05 00:09 True, but I don't see it happening. I had a fresh join once my connection was disconnected and manually reconnected...yea, another reason for which I use bouncer is to hide host and IP details. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IBNash · 2020-07-07 15:29 1. What do you think detach does? 2. What are you trying to achieve?
