Can't Connect To Servers Over ZNC reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-06-11 07:08 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- borksandwich · 2020-06-11 07:54 I actually had this problem the other day, and had to change to a different SSL port the server uses. Have you tried to connect to any other servers? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Z3ROGRAV1TYx · 2020-06-11 08:00 I will try changing the SSL port tomorrow I have not tried any other servers, the only ones I kn Lil w of rn are ones you need to be registered (email, nickname/pass), I didn't want to deal with any authentication until I got ZNC working. If you know of a server w channels that don't require any registering I'd love to know ---------------------------------------------------------------------- borksandwich · 2020-06-11 08:03 I'm on efnet, ie the wild west, so you don't need to do any registering there. Try efnet.port80.se 9999 If that works, then it's likely the port you're using. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Z3ROGRAV1TYx · 2020-06-11 15:20 >11:16 <*status> Connecting to [efnet.port80.se]... 11:16 <*status> Cannot connect to IRC (Network is unreachable). Retrying... Hmmm doesn't seem to be working. I have it set to SSL port, I assume that's what port 9999 is. But, if I disable it the error message changes to `11:17 <*status> Connecting to [efnet.port80.se]... 11:17 <*status> Disconnected from IRC (Connection reset by peer). Reconnecting...` and I believe that is common when it tries to go to the SSL port but not connect over SSL. So it's almost like it's detecting the network in the original issue, just not connecting for whatever reason. And again, I can connect via `/connect -tls efnet.port80.se 9999` directly no issues. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IBNash · 2020-06-11 17:21 Do NOT run ZNC as root, see https://wiki.znc.in/Installation Pastebin the relevant bits of your znc config so we can see what's wrong. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Z3ROGRAV1TYx · 2020-06-11 19:00 I didn't run it as root? It's running under the znc user. I will get the config later today or tommorow. Anything specific? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trekkie1701c · 2020-06-11 19:15 The -u flag on sudo runs as a different user. It's useful if you need to run a shell command on an account that doesn't have shell access. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- trekkie1701c · 2020-06-11 19:19 I have this problem fairly frequently on Espernet/Freenode/Gamesurge. I'd assumed some of the member servers were blocking my IP address because I'm hosting my ZNC on a cloud server. Is that the case for your setup? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Z3ROGRAV1TYx · 2020-06-11 20:33 I'm hosting locally atm so no, I can directly connect to them from the same ip ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IBNash · 2020-06-11 22:31 Read it on my phone and missed the -u znc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Z3ROGRAV1TYx · 2020-06-12 12:48 Encoding = ^UTF^-8 FloodBurst = 9 FloodRate = 2.00 IRCConnectEnabled = true JoinDelay = 0 LoadModule = crypt LoadModule = keepnick LoadModule = log LoadModule = simple_away LoadModule = autoattach Server = efnet.port80.se 9999 TrustAllCerts = false TrustPKI = true Encoding = ^UTF^-8 FloodBurst = 9 FloodRate = 2.00 IRCConnectEnabled = false JoinDelay = 0 LoadModule = crypt LoadModule = keepnick LoadModule = log LoadModule = simple_away LoadModule = autoattach Server = efnet.port80.se 9999 TrustAllCerts = false TrustPK I = true AutoClearChanBuffer = false AutoClearChanBuffer = false Lmk if there's anything else specific you'd like to see. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Z3ROGRAV1TYx · 2020-06-13 19:41 Still having issues :/
