Storing IRC Messages

I'm curious if it's possible to set up an IRC server that stores or
logs messages, both for channels as well as direct messages.  Are
there configuration options?

Usually your IRC client has the option to enable/disable logs. Try
referring to your IRC client documentation or let us know which IRC
client you are using maybe we can help 🙌

For the project I'm working on I would need access to all the messages
on the server, not just the ones I personally was involved in--I'm
assuming my client would only track messages to or from me, or
channels I was currently in.  I'm looking for something more along the
lines of configuring the server itself--looking at the inspircd
documentation it looks like there is a "log" configuration parameter
where you can set various types of messages to log and levels of
messages to log.  Assuming there's an "all" option for this it might
get me what I need, but I have no idea how performant it's going to
be.
