IRC client for Chrome OS... reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PlainDave · 2020-03-25 03:53 I have Linux "installed" on my Pixelbook, but irssi and Weechat seem to cause everything to freeze. Either that or it's Linux itself on Chrome OS. So, I'm now using Byrd. Do you know if there's a way to turn logging on? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-03-25 04:02 https://irccloud.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dijit · 2020-03-25 09:04 Ah man, this could be anything, but the first thing I'd check is what scripts you have loaded (or get loaded by default). I know for instance issues have come up with beeps. I also know that anything using libnotify can cause freeze's if there is nothing to consume notifications. (you can test that theory with notify-send) To run weechat with no plugins you can do `weechat -p -d /tmp/test` Then slowly load your plugins with `/plugin load ` For the original question: there are debug sections in the weechat config which can enable logging, but if it's a full freeze then it might not log. I'd test components that could cause this before continuing with logging. (try notify-send, try removing scripts, and try some other full screen TUI application such as ncdu or htop) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PlainDave · 2020-03-25 12:08 Hey, thanks for all the info. I really like Weechat the best so far, but I'm suspecting that Linux progs just don't run like they should on this chromebook/Pixelbook. I was really hoping to find out if there's a way to log channels and servers in Byrd. It's pretty bare-bones, but I think that logging should be an option. Thanks again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PlainDave · 2020-03-25 12:09 Thanks for the link. I like it so far. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-03-25 15:28 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PlainDave · 2020-03-25 17:23 Okay. I'll check that out. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- peterjpeters · 2020-03-26 02:49 I also use irccloud. It's great! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PlainDave · 2020-03-26 03:40 Yeah, I like it a lot. But I can't select and copy anything to the buffer without saving a log file and then opening it up with a basic text editor. Other than that, it's the most configurable IRC client for Android, which includes AndroIRC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TheMadMan10 · 2020-04-09 16:17 I'm using an Android app for IRC on my Pixel Slate.
