mIRC 7.61 released reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sim642 · 2020-03-02 20:59 I'm surprised a proprietary IRC client is getting updates in 2020. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KindOne · 2020-03-02 21:08 I personally know about 20 people that use mIRC daily. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 9nty · 2020-03-08 23:27 I use mIRC for my Twitch chatbot. Forum is kinda dead but apart from that, it's okay if you want to run a chatbot for twitch for an example. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nhtshot · 2020-03-14 19:17 Wow, I used it back in the 90s. Legit blast from the past. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CharlyShouldWork · 2020-03-21 19:54 I still hate mirc Colors. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- StygianAgenda · 2020-04-05 03:56 I'm running mIRC on 2 VMs and 1 workstation, based on an in-house- developed IRC script that's been evolving since the mid 1990s --it's specifically configured for my own IRC server. mIRC has been with me now for wow... like 25 years. It's amazing how portable it is, once installed --no problem running it from an encrypted flash drive (for mobile/work use). It's crazy when I think about it, because I was using IRC before there was internet, via SLIP accounts (Serial Line Internet Protocol, a predecessor to PPP, both of which were used by analog modems back prior to Windows 95's launch), via BBS systems I'd dial into, and chat over a terminal app I used back then called 'COMit'. I still maintain 4 eggdrop bots, too, which are all Linux native, running as a non-priv'd service, and have been wanting to work out a means of bringing a guest IRC client into a VRChat world as an embedded applications... perhaps UDON will let me pull that off. But yeah man... IRC's still alive and well. [Freenode.net](https://Freenode.net) is still hugely populated. Though, it's been several years since I've been on DalNet, EFNet or Undernet. I used to spend a hell of a lot of time over on NewNet and RelicNet as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- killerj666 · 2020-06-15 16:10 Undernet is alive and well too. I returned to IRC when the quarantines started, and was pleasantly surprised.
