Hexchat network for downloading books/textbooks reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MeowWhat · 2020-01-28 16:53 I mean if you can find a server that distributes those things. It's been a while since I went on IRC for media but all I remember seeing is TV shows, movies, anime, music and warez. Maybe go on rizon? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-01-28 23:39 May be wrong but weren’t the two main ones Undernet and Irchighway? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MeowWhat · 2020-01-29 00:11 Undernet I'm familiar with the other one not at all. My time was spent on sorcery at first and then later rizon, dalnet, efnet and snoonet. I've toyed around with a few other servers over time but especially on the smaller servers noone is really active. I should go exploring again though. I miss queuing up stuff for dcc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2020-01-29 00:44 Wow you get around a lot more than me, I just found out about IRC a week ago looking for textbooks aha. I’ll have to check those out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MeowWhat · 2020-01-29 02:36 IRC is super old. I was using it in my teen years for anime and even then it was old. It remains my favorite way to chat in 2020 though. Plus if any still exist, chats with script bots can be a lot if fun. Me and a buddy used to build bots designed to permanently kick ban the other, kinda like internet robot wars. There was (is?) a pokemon battle bot that was run on sorcery then later rizon I think that we used. I actually still own a copy of RSbot but have absolutely no idea how to use it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- K41namor · 2020-02-07 13:47 Efnet was a main place for media. They actually used to have huge ebook channels. With searchable bots for specific books.
