Why can't I cut and paste in mIRC?

I used to submit funny exchanges from IRC onto
[bash.org](https://bash.org) (with all the participants' permission
first) but for the past couple of years, the versions of mIRC I've
downloaded don't allow it?

Why would this capability have been removed?

I don't know (haven't used mIRC in a while) but I would say that maybe
they added an option to disable copy and paste in order to prevent
people from accidentaly spamming channels.

Maybe you should look up if there is such an option in the settings.

Been years since I used any irc clients, don't you just highlight and
it copies automatically?

1) don't use mIRC. Use ADIIRC it has the mSL scripting engine with
themes and easy but advanced customization and features built in. It
even has line columns like Hexchat

2) if you do use mIRC/adiirc - select the text and ctrl+v... I'm not
sure how you couldn't figure that out

There sure is some funny stuff on there.

I've submitted what I thought were outrageously funny exchanges to
that site for years.  Not one has been posted.
